Motorcycles have predominantly been seen as a male thing to ride. Well, to be honest, this falls in line with everything we already know about the automotive industry. Everything to do with cars – whether it’s casual driving or rally driving – has been associated with men. The idea of women in motorsports shocks some people, but there’s really no reason why more women can’t enjoy the automotive scene.
This brings us back to motorcycles, and there are plenty of reasons for women to start giving them a go. Aside from the great motorcycle gear for female riders, there are other things that might compel you to swap four wheels for two. In fact, loads of women are already doing this, with the number of female motorcyclists rising every year. So, why should you give this a go?
Provides a sense of freedom
That’s right, riding a motorcycle can set you free – both physically and mentally. There’s something amazing about feeling the air whip past you as you ride along the road. It’s an experience you can’t get when driving a car, which is what makes motorcycles so unique. If you ever feel trapped or bogged down in your life, getting on a motorbike could be the best thing you’ve ever done.
Improves your fitness
Riding a motorcycle can actually provide you with a great workout. For women, it’s especially good as it targets some areas of the body that typically present problems. Mainly, your back, which presents issues for many women due to pregnancy or other biological traits that put extra strain on the back muscles. Riding a motorcycle forces your core to remain engaged, which strengthens your lower back. Through persistent riding, you could find that chronic back pain is less apparent. As a bonus, it really helps to tone your inner thighs as they are squeezed against the bike a lot of the time.
Increase your self-confidence
It has been found that women that ride motorcycles are more confident than they were before they started riding. This is because it takes a lot of skill and courage to ride a motorcycle, and you get a big adrenaline boost from it. Many women do it to conquer their fears, but it makes you feel so good about yourself when you’re straddled over the bike. You feel so alive, so in control, and you know that people are looking at you when you get off your motorcycle. You’re aware that people are thinking wow, that woman was just riding a motorbike like that?! It’s fun to subvert people’s opinions and leave them open-mouthed, and that’s exactly what you’ll do if you get a motorbike.
It’s certainly a different experience from driving a car, that’s for sure. There’s just more excitement and adrenaline involved, it’s incomparable to going out in your car. The equivalent would probably be heading out for a race every time you got behind the wheel! If you’re a fan of the auto industry, maybe it’s time you gave two wheels a try?
